DON'T DO IT BUT DON'T WORRY IF SOMEONE ELSE HAS

Just listened to the segment on "Quirks and Quarks" about urine in pools.

First of all, the scientists who did this research only tested for the presence of a certain artificial sweetener found in many food products, not specifically for urine, so how do they know there's actually that much urine in the pools and hot tubs they tested? Maybe it was from sweat or from the chlorine drawing this artificial sweetener out of people's pores.

Second, even if there is an amount of urine comparable to what the research found, could a lot of that not be residual or from sources such as pregnannt women leaking or swim diapers that don't hold urine?

Third, the scientist interviewed for "Quirks" said that the mixing product of the chlorine and the urine causes eye and lung irritation. Chlorine does that all on it's own.

Fourth, she talked about swimming being healthy but failed to mention Olympic swimmers pee in the pool all the time.
